What is a District Conference?

The 2008 Spring Conference is an opportunity for Toastmasters and non-Toastmasters alike from the Los Angeles area to invest in their future by learning from top-notch speakers and leaders, network, and observe some of the best speakers in District ONE compete for the title of District Champion in the Table Topics and International Speech Contests.


This event includes three phenomenal speakers, the Table Topics and International Speech Contests, the Hall of Fame Luncheon, a special presentation by the International Director from Region II, and the Communication and Leadership Award.

Keynote Speaker Tara Church challenges the audience to use Toastmaster skills to make a major difference. She's traveled from the South Bay around the world with an important message--and so can you!

Tara graduated from USC, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with dual honors. She honed her philanthropic and public-leadership skills at Harvard Law School and practiced litigation at major law firms in New York and Los Angeles.

Lauren is an Information Technology Project Manager specializing in healthcare insurance for United Health Group. Her work as a project manager earned her the coveted IT Excellence award for 'Exceptional Team Work' and in 2005 she earned the Project Management Professional certificate, PMP. She is a 20 year member of Toastmasters and has taken full advantage of all the leadership opportunities offered - including the top 3 leadership roles in Founder's District, responsible for more than 200 clubs and about 3,800 members.

Today Lauren is sharing with us her journey in project management and how Toastmasters plays an active part in her daily responsibilities. Understanding leadership in the workplace is critical to career succeess. Learn how you can utilize the leadership skills you learn in Toastmasters in your work and personal life.
